Where Does My Tithe Money Go? (Kelly takes a vacation)

When you give to a church it's usually understood that the money goes to support the church's finances and keep it running.  Being a...

PRIDE Weekend and The Crossing Church

As those of us in the Twin Cities begin our celebration of the GLBT community, as both members and allies, lets not forgot how The Crossing Church of Elk River, Minnesota views these beautiful humans.

Lets first look at their history.  On Kelly Dykstra's blog in 2005, referencing the Elk River Ministerial Association meeting that there was "a woman minister with a gay agenda trying to get in.  Ick,"  Did you catch that?  "ICK"  Then in 2013 they had Hannah Parks speak where she preached against homosexuality from their stage.

In October of 2016 I obtained their LGBT Statement which in short says "homosexuality is wrong in the eyes of God".  This was a comment about The Crossing from that blog post, "this is why I left the church as well. I had the Unfortunate interaction with a church members who went on to tell me I was abused sexually as a child and that is why I was gay. he belittled me and told me my only way to heaven was to be straight and throw myself into the church. Pastor Eric and his wife I had several conversations with about this and their teachings. telling someone they accept you then treat you like less than is not the way to be Christian in my mind. they are hypocrites that want your money and throw you away when they are done with you."

Their sermon series this week even addresses this:
WEEK TWO: Can I be gay and be a Christian?
-Is God anti-gay?
-Are gay people condemned to hell?
-What does the Bible really say about LGBTQ issues?
-How should a church deal with such a touchy subject?

I promise you that you will not be accepted, affirmed or loved.

For those of you who still profess to be Christian, and are being pummeled by The Crossing or other churches, I would highly encourage you to research Matthew Vines.  He has done much more extensive research than these bigots and may help give you the true acceptance you deserve.

The Crossing wants your money (most of all), your time and your dedication.  But stop giving any of these and they will spit you out and forget you.  This is a blog of staff members who left a year ago.  Horrifying, sad and typical of their behavior.

My friends; go enjoy your PRIDE weekend and celebrate who you are!  Fuck trying to find a way to get in with these small minded jerks.  You are perfect as you are.

Lets not forget how they don't even follow their own code of conduct. One is we honor everyone up down and all around. That is b.s they honor their leaders and that's it. Not the volunteers, not anyone who is struggling with anything and they lie about multiple shit. I will never forget the things they done to me And said to me.

Look up their reviews online. 90 percent are from fucking staff members and Leaders. And I've noticed when new staff members come on board they do a review. My opinion more people are started to see who these guys really are and they have to make sure they get reviews even if their false.

I'm unsure about the accusations made here; I've never experienced any of the aforementioned behavior from The Crossing. I am a volunteer and I've always felt honored. As far as being LGBT and Christian, there's nothing wrong with that. It is true that homosexuality is considered to be a sin. Don't forget WE ALL are guilty if sin. My addictions, my anger, so many things are sinful. God doesn't look at one person's sin and decide it's worse than another...we ALL FALL SHORT IF THE GLORY OF GOD. That's why Jesus paid the price for us. When a Christian judges or preaches hate at you based on your sexuality, it is not of God. God LOVES YOU. My BIGGEST heart cry is for judgemental, angry Christians to stop gay-bashing. They are only pushing people farther from God. Anyways, I could ramble on this topic forever so I'll just say God Bless, I'm praying for you, Merry Christmas.

I don't believe being gay is a sin. Period. End of discussion. Read all the other blog links and they will confirm anything I've said. https://acrossingstory.com/

I'd like to provide a little clarity because I also have first-hand knowledge and experience as a Crossing Leader. I attended and served whole-heartedly served for 3 years as a leader at this church. Although they have been called out on this issue before, I called them out myself as well once I discovered exactly what they have done and are attempting to do. Their reaction to my request for documentation regarding their LGBTQ beliefs was met with adamant resistance and they provided no information initially as I was shooed away. I didn't budge - intentionally so. Here is what was revealed and what ultimately led to my leaving this non-church:

1 - They insisted they had a written policy at the time, but refused to send it to me. I persisted, and they literally wrote a policy tailor-made just for me. I thought it was real but was very skeptical as to why they just wouldn't send it to me. Big red flag, but they did send me "the policy" which was, again, made for me and me alone. I spent more than a year believing that this was their policy for all, it wasn't. When I showed it to my friends at The Crossing, most were shocked, appalled, and had no idea. That's when they created a "real" policy. I didn't like being lied to, but worst of all was their non-disclosure to their congregation. As a person who has worked in schools as a teacher and administrator for most of my adult career and watched kids suffer, even to the point of suicide. This type of spritual abuse is quite common, unfortunately. They will tell you one or more ofseveral things:

- I am Satan doing the devils work (pretty sure I'm not) :

- They love the LGBTQ and they even have a few LGBTQ in their congregation but they cannot not serve in certain capacities becuase they are LGBTQ. That's not love, not God's love, and immoral and abhorrent.

- Kelly has yet to address the "ick" comment - and certainly should

- They will pray for me (but we are still going to dscriminate boldly - and even lie to be able to do so.

- Eric refused to answer my emails and appeals and was more concerned about how I got his personal phone # than he was about the issue at hand (He gave me his phone # when I offered help in finding a location for their St. Michael location). That, he was excited about. The other...not so much.

- I was continually passed off to office and clegy staff, none of which knew about the policy until I gave it to them (many left feeling betrayed. They were betrayed.

- My intent was never to censor anyone's beliefs, but rather call for full disclosure. I explained that many times and I would post announcements of the truth during their online services - and then blocked

My friends, being LGBTQ is not a sin and has been rebuked time and time again by world experts much more knowkedgable on the matter. Google Christian appologists and the LGBTQ - and definitely watch Dr. David Gushee on YouTube in a clip where he speaks directlt to the clobber verses and the mistakes some Christians make in their "judgments/handling" of the LGBTQ.

It is all on record (I kept the emails and texts) and they will be called out repeatedly on on it.

God bless and have a VERY happy new year!

Peace,

~ Billy Soden

"Being gay is not a sin.
Neither is being lesbian, bisexual, or Transgender.
The Bible never claims that it is.
Christians should stop saying it."

actually it does call it sin, detestable. and also warns about false teachers saying its not.
"Now we know that the law is good, if one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike their fathers and mothers, for murderers, the sexually immoral, men who practice homosexuality, enslavers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the gospel of the glory of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.

im not gonna list each and every verse that speaks about it, however what people in the Christian faith fail to realize that it also.teaches to love all as well and that they can indeed be saved. while you can say its not sin and it be your opinion but saying the Bible doesnt call it sin is untrue.
i will leave on this note where it
talks about it as sin but does say one can be washed by Christ

"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God."

BTW i detest The Crossing and Dykstras. i am in no way affiliated with them
